The goal is to create an environment that celebrates freedom without barriers and what that looks like to all kinds of people. What does a world without walls look like to you?

Hi, Welcome to the submissions page!

Digital artwork submissions will be accepted starting July 6, 2009 for inclusion in Rise&Fall, an art and music event series commemorating the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Rise&Fall is sponsored by The Embassy of the Republic of Germany Washington, DC, The Consulate General of the Republic of Germany New York, The Consulate General of the Republic of Germany Miami, The Consulate General of the Republic of Germany Boston and The Consulate General of the Republic of Germany Los Angeles. Art submissions are due by September 30. Rise&Fall events will take place between November 4 and December 1, 2009 in New York, Miami, Boston, Washington, DC and Los Angeles. Selected artists will be contacted by email before October 4, 2009.

Artwork should interpret the meaning of "breaking down barriers" in a literal or symbolic way. Artists may choose to relate their piece to the fall of the Berlin Wall, but this is not required. Artists of every age and ability are encouraged to apply. Submissions may be made in any medium and converted to a digital image. For more information on the overall theme for the German Missions in the United States, please visit www.germany.info/withoutwalls.

All submissions must include a short description of the piece and how the artist perceives its relation to the theme. Contact information of the artist or representative must also be included.

Selected pieces will be displayed online on the official Rise&Fall website, www.rise-fall.com, and will be displayed at each Rise&Fall event on digital picture frames and/or projected in event venues. 20 art pieces will be selected to be published in a limited-edition commemorative Rise&Fall book. The selected artists will receive a copy of the book.

We encourage artists wishing to sell their original accepted pieces or promote their other work to provide links to websites or addresses and phone numbers of places where work may be purchased. BOA will post these links where artwork is displayed online and provide purchase information at Rise&Fall events. BOA will act as a disseminator of information only and will not receive a percentage of sales or negotiate in the purchase or selling of artwork. Artist will retain full ownership of original work.

Accepted artists will not receive financial compensation for selected pieces. However, they will receive complimentary admission (if entrance fee is charged) to a Rise&Fall event of their choice, a chance to be published in the Rise&Fall commemorative book and some great promotion and exposure for their work!
