Make your own Berliner!
[Posted:11/03/09]

Create your own doll with pieces of a pre-Unification city map.
Send pictures of your dolls to mirrormovie@gmx.de and they will be shown on the blog paired with actual photographs of the places on the map where the doll is placed.
The art project
The exhibition Rise and Fall commemorating the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall focuses on a life without borders. Living in Berlin for seven years, I thought of the currently buzzing creativity in Berlin. The wide spaces in the city allow national and international creatives to realize their ideas in a public space – like street art, little fashion studios and markets of inspired designers or spontaneous electro-music festivals in the park.
Visitors of the exhibition and the blog can create their own dolls with parts of an old city map of Berlin at the times of the Wall. The Pictures of these dolls will be shown on this blog paired with actual photographs of the places on the map where the doll is placed.
The music of the sound installation is created by the Berlin based American Artist Intercom. It uses noises from a walk down at the East Side Gallery – one of the last pieces of the original wall and next to the legendary Elektro Club Berghain that is visited by Partytourists every weekend and was 2009 voted for the Best Club of the world by the British magazine DJ Mag.
