Artist: Viktoria King
Title: A Boy and His Bear 3
Location: Blacksburg,VA
Artist Website: www.VikkiKing.ebsqart.com
Description:
A world without walls, what would it be like? I think first we need to recognize that walls are meant to keep us safe and protect us. Too many walls can become a prison. To escape the prison, many of us would pack up our bears and set off on an adventure in the sun. It might be dangerous, but it sure would be fun. Don't you think?

Artist: Liz Murphy Thomas
Title: Breaking Through the Glass Floor
Location: Springfield, IL
Artist Website: lizmurphythomas.info/
Description:
Few would scoff at the notion that gender inequality exists in many professions. This unfairness is often viewed as women not getting a fair shake in a "man's world". But while women have been encouraged to enter fields that have been traditionally male-dominated, men often have difficulty finding acceptance in roles historically considered "female". Quite often there can be negative assumptions associated with men who choose these types of careers. As an artist, I have produced a series of images entitled Breaking Through the Glass Floor.

Title: Old Coins On Two iron Plates
Location: Jerusalem, Israel
Artist Website: www.helen-and-asnat.com
Description:
We integrate authentic elements derived from the past in modernistic minimalist compositions on big industrial iron plates. The materials we use are derived from the various cultures that co-exist in our region.Through these pieces we connect with the Israeli and regional cultures, creating a linkage between them and emphasizing their common characteristics. We both live in Jerusalem, which is also where we find the materials we incorporate into our work.In more aspects than one, Jerusalem is reflected in our works, being an amalgamation of the old and new, the modern and the simple, an ingathering of the exiles and of religions, cultures and nationalities.

Artist: Jeanine Osborne
Title: From "Walls of Paradise"
Location: Zurich, Switzerland
Artist Website: www.sikart.ch
Description:
Still/photograph from Video Walls are, for me, ambivalent constructions. On the one hand they set boundaries, protecting in real and symbolic terms. Breaking them can be intolerable invasiveness. Joshua "tumbles down" the walls of Jericho to enforce a new religion, a new identity, on the inhabitants. On the other hand, breaking down of boundaries, or walls, can be an act of release, unity, hope. The work from the interdisciplinary art project "Walls of Paradise" reflects this complexity.

Artist: George Lorio
Title: Conejos y Zanahorias
Location: Brownsville, TX
Artist Website: www.georgelorio.com
Description:
"Conejos y Zanahorias" is an installation of found materials. Living just north of the Rio Grande, I understand the brownish green strip of flowing water as a divider of countries, cultures, families, and landscapes. The Rio Grande, the US border, is the southern mote for the lower forty-eight states maintained in its present channel by treaty. The Mexican side has stratified wealthy elite whose money allows casual access and a less privileged population whose legal crossings are monitored and temporary or whose illegal passages are covert and strained.
The sculpture, "Conejos y Zanahorias" is my immediate responses to living so near this mythic river.
Purchase Info:
10.5"x 30" x 24", installation of brass, welded steel & cast aluminum (found materials) with ceramic, 2009
Artist: Marisa C. Hayes
Title: Strata
Location: France/USA
Artist Website: www.marisahayes.com
Description:
"Strata" is a self-portrait photograph created by overlapping two video stills that explore the architecture of industrial ruins. Doors, walls, and staircases all form important metaphors in this photo that confronts an interior landscape through external architectural elements and the double appearance of the artist. One figure attempts to transcend the wall by climbing the staircase, while the other self remains below, isolated by the barrier of the wall. This duality explores the artist's relationship to the Berlin Wall first from her perspective as an American child in the 1980's remembering the celebrations of the fall of the Berlin Wall, and later, her life as an adult living in Europe, observing Eastern Germany's ongoing quest to find the same economic quality of life found in Western Germany.
Purchase Info:
For Sale, multiple color copies of photograph available at 100 euros each, plus the price of shipping. Color prints on high quality photographic paper measure 30 x 40 centimeters.
Artist: Anna Olshansky
Title: Our Time Is War
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Artist Website: annaolshansky.net
Description:
This piece is meant to represent the current state of uncertainty and turmoil that we live in. To tell a visual story that makes you want to question and break through the walls and barriers that are set forth before you by a bias and unfair media. There is a thin line (wall) between right and wrong, between real and fake, between queer and ordinary, and I wish all of us the courage and the sense to know when we need to break through it.
Purchase Info:
It is for sale. Please contact the artist to discuss price.
Artist: Branislava Nikolic

Title: Hope - Hoffnung
Location: Berlin, Germany
Artist Website: www.yangyounhee.com
Description:
Installation project "Hope-Hoffnung" Exploration of borders in Germany. The Bear family, consisting of wood, wire, and rubber-foam, were used in the settings of public parks, sidewalks... The unsuspecting crowd of viewers, such as joggers, families, or bicycle riders, were suddenly confronted with the ever-present borders in our everyday life: Walls, fences, rivers, ... with the innocent refugee family trying to overcome those. In this project, I liked the mechanism of the viewers' exposure to my art, much like refugees, who can be encountered in random situations. The reactions to this encounter were their participation in my work. The many locations of this installation let many small stories of the hardship and difficulties of the archetype refugee unfold.
